Best Of: George Michael

 

BRITISH pop singer George Michael, who rose to fame with the band Wham! and sold more than 100 million albums in his career, has died aged 53.

He enjoyed immense popularity early in his career as a teenybopper idol, delivering a series of hits such as “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go,” “Careless Whisper” and “Freedom.” As a solo artist, he developed into a more serious singer and songwriter, lauded by critics for his tremendous vocal range.

He sold well over 100 million albums globally, earned numerous Grammy and American Music Awards, and recorded duets with legends like Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Ray Charles, Luciano Pavarotti and Elton John.

Michael - whose real name is Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, was also set to release a documentary in 2017.

The movie, with the working title Freedom: George Michael, was to be narrated by Michael and set to feature Mark Ronson, Mary J Blige, Tony Bennett, Liam Gallagher, James Corden and Ricky Gervais.

Michael’s 1990 album Listen Without Prejudice Vol.1 had been set to be reissued accompanied by the documentary which would also feature Stevie Wonder, Elton John and the supermodels who starred in the video to his hit single Freedom! ‘90.

Happy Boxing Day everyone!!!

Hope ya’ll had a lovely and blessed Christmas with loved ones. My family and I had a lovely joyous Christmas :)

Can’t believe the sad news that UK Icon George Michael passed away on Christmas day aged 53 in his sleep. May he rest in peace. He was an icon and artist who produced so many amazing iconic songs that will live on forever!!!

He will be missed, that’s for sure!!!!

I will be away from here for a about a week from Wednesday as I have mentioned in my previous posts that I will be getting two of my wisdom teeth removed and will be in need of rest.
